The kindness of strangers.

Of course, the kindness of strangers is always deeply appreciated. New York is such a wonderful city because the people are so wonderful – what a culture! Everyone is very gritty and very down-to-earth, but no one is unkind. I learned a lot by observing the people of New York, seeing how they navigated the city, communicated with each other, and the way that they approached life, with a firm grip on reality and a strong sense of self. This is how an actor does good work, too, by staying grounded in reality and keeping a strong sense of who they are and what their task is. And being kind to those they work with. All this I learned in five joyful days in New York City!
