Languages.

I love languages; every place I visit, I buy a little pocket phrasebook in the particular dialect of the region, and do my best to engage people in conversation. Most people are actually very flattered when you do your best to connect with them in their language, and will encourage you by offering some pronunciation tips. My mom and I went into Puerto Peñasco to buy some souvenirs and supplies, and we got lunch afterwards. We found a taco stand on a white porch overhanging the ocean, and I sat there with my little dictionary in my lap, and ordered ‘tacos de camarones’ with as much confidence as I could muster. The waiter smiled and took down my order; when it arrived he had given me extra salsa!
