BOOKWORM

Why I like books

First of all, I see books in everything. A book started off as a way to bind lots of stories together. So, like, if you see the murals at Elysian Park on wall after wall, in a way this is a book. In a way a constellation is a book because all the stars add up to something. A real book is a special pleasure because of how the pages feel and smell. The type of paper really matters, and the type of print. For example, not just the story matters. A cool bookbinder I know is called Mary Reynolds. She lived a long, long time ago in Paris, France. She knew Gertrude Stein who was an important woman but sometimes mean to her friends. Gertrude Stein also jumped over her friends on ice skates. They lay on the ice like hurdles. This is a true story that really happened.
